With your own private guide you can personalize your Vatican tour and ask all the questions you want - easy guarantee that you will get the most out of your visit. Our guides are experts in their field, with excellent English, who know how to tailor the stories of Michelangelo, the Renaissance Popes and the Roman emperors for all age groups, from the future art patrons to the least experienced museum visitors. Our classic tour route covers the highlights of the Vatican Museums, from the greatest sculptures of ancient Greece and Rome to the Renaissance genius of Raphael and Michelangelo, of course including the magnificent work the latter did in the frescos on the vault and on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel – highlights of the western art such us the Last Judgement and the Creation of Adam, just to name a few.
Your tour will end with the impressive St. Peter's Basilica, a museum in itself and the most important church in Rome, designed by Michelangelo and decorated by Bernini. We enter directly from the Sistine Chapel via a special entrance, skipping the long line outside. Your guide will provide you with a detailed description of the Basilica, of the spectacular altar, of Michelangelo's famous 'Pietà' and again, with more stories which will bring these works to life right in front of you.
**The Basilica is subject to last minute closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we are happy to offer to our customers an extended tour of the Vatican Museums. While we undertake to tell tour groups ahead of time whether there are any planned disruptions to the Basilica opening hours, this is not always possible. Appropriate dress is required to enter into some sites of this tour. Knees, shoulders and backs must be covered for both men and women.
